What you need to know about Atlantis, The Royal Resort
When Atlantis, The Palm opened in September 2008 as the first resort to debut on the manmade Palm Jumeirah island, it redefined Dubai’s skyline forever.
Fast forward to 2021 and its sister property, Atlantis, The Royal Resort, is preparing to open by the end of the year.
Once complete, on the plot adjacent to Atlantis The Palm, the resorts will span 63 hectares (or around 155 football pitches).
The resort will be home to 17 restaurants and bars.
Celebrity chefs will helm five of the restaurants, with Heston Blumenthal, José Andrés, Ariana Bundy, Gastón Acurio and Costa Spiliadis bringing inventive British, Spanish, Persian, Peruvian and Mediterranean cuisine to the shores of the Palm Jumeirah respectively. Elsewhere in the resort, a Cantonese venue Ling Ling, from the team behind award-winning restaurant Hakkasan will be located on the hotel's 22nd and 23rd floors, with an array of outdoor terraces that overlook the pool. An all-day dining restaurant, American diner, a Robatayaki restaurant and several cocktails bars, including one at the 22nd floor Sky Pool, will complement the celeb outposts.
The lobby bar will be home to one of the largest jellyfish tanks in the world.
A tank of 2,000 jellyfish will serve as a centrepiece to the lobby bar, with a further three aquariums also in the hotel welcoming area.
There’s a fire and water theme running through the hotel’s interior design.
Designed by Californian water feature firm W.E.T, five dramatic installations themed on water and fire are incorporated into The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences. Among them are SURGE, which has sheets of cascading water that spill onto a pool that will have flames erupting out of it, GLIMMER, on the ground level, and HORIZON, a water performance piece.
It will have a 90m-long and 96m-high infinity pool.
Views from the Sky Pool look to the Dubai city skyline from one side and the Arabian Gulf on the other.
The guest rooms will span the west wing, while the residences occupy the east wing.
Boasting 795 guest rooms, split between 693 ocean and palm rooms, 96 suites and six signature suites, the hotel will be located in the west wing. The residences will be on the opposite side and promise to bring a new generation of luxury living to Dubai. The offering will include 231 residential homes comprising of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom residences including Skycourts, Penthouses and Garden Suites.
Every Residence and hotel room will benefit from views of the Palm or Arabian Gulf, and many have their own private outdoor space, with top tier categories offering a terraced garden with private infinity pool.
There will be more than 90 pools across the two resorts.
Over 90 public and private swimming pools will span the two resorts, as well as 2km of private beach — the largest stretch of continuous, accessible privately-owned beachfront in Dubai — 45 restaurants and bars, a beach club and nightclub.
The Skycourt residences also have private pools.
The Skycourt options feature up to four bedrooms with elevated terraces, each with its own private outdoor pool and landscaped gardens.
Guests will have access to the newly expanded Aquaventure Waterpark.
Aquaventure became one of the biggest waterparks in the world in 2021 when the action-packed 48m-tall Trident Tower opened, taking the total attractions at the waterpark to 105.
