UAE suspends flights from India for ten days
The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has announced the suspension of all inbound flights from India.
The ten-day suspension begins on Saturday, April 24 at 11.59 pm and includes all flights from both national and international carriers.
Transit flights coming to the UAE and heading to India are not included in the ban, and cargo flights between the UAE and India will continue as normal.
“The GCAA indicated that it is required for those coming from India through other countries that the period of stay in those countries is not less than 14 days to be allowed to enter the country, as of 23:59 on Saturday, April 24, 2021, for 10 days that can be extended,” said the statement.
“The decision to suspend flights came after studying and evaluating the epidemiological situation in the friendly Republic of India and within the framework of continuous coordination and cooperation with all relevant authorities inside and outside the country that continuously monitor developments in the situation to maintain the security and safety of civil aviation," it continued.
The GCAA also confirmed that UAE nationals, diplomatic missions between the two countries, official delegations, business planes, and golden residency holders are excluded from the temporary suspension.
The NCEMA added that all travellers affected by the travel suspension should follow up with their respected airlines directly.
This week it was also announced that passengers arriving in Dubai from Indian airports are required to provide a negative PCR test issued within 48 hours of the sample being collected.
