The View at The Palm in Dubai "a necessary destination"
Nakheel, the master developer, will soon unveil The View at The Palm, an observation deck that showcases a 360-degree view of Palm Jumeirah designed by global design and architecture firm Gensler, to the world when it opens on 7 April 2021.
The announcement comes weeks after the master developer announced that The Palm Tower was 95% complete, with all of its components set to open by October this year.
The View at The Palm is located on the 52nd floor of the tower, 240-metres above the ground, with direct access from Nakheel Mall.
Omar Khoory, Chief Assets and Hospitality Officer at Nakheel told Construction Week: "During their trip to Dubai over 60% of the tourists visit Palm Jumeriah. However, they can't see the Palm. With The View they will now be able to see the palm as well as the Dubai skyline."
The unique architecture of The View at The Palm, according to Samar Hussein, Associate at Gensler, was a result of "collaboration" with all the stakeholders and Nakheel.
Talking about the design elements of the project, "For us, the design was about flexibility and technology, which is one of the main drivers. So we wanted to create an interactive space. We worked with Nakheel to create a story on how should the space be envisioned. Design is no longer just about the physical space or walls, it is about the experience and the technical aspects. So creating the brand for the experience as The View has been the main feature for us."
Hussein added that for Gensler, the project was about "mimicking the landscape." The themes of sea, sand, and air are very well represented with the design.
Sharing details on how will the project amplify the status of Palm Jumeriah on Dubai's real estate map, Gail Sangster, Assets Director at Nakheel: "It only seemed like it [The View at The Palm] was the next step to take, whereby we create an iconic destination in Palm Jumeirah. We have now created an opportunity for people to see its [Palm Jumeriah's] glory. We believe The View at The Palm is a necessary destination."
