Heart of Europe's Côte d'Azur Resort on fast track
Côte d’Azur, a resort of four boutique hotels within the Heart of Europe islands is set to open in the last quarter of 2020. Once open, Côte d’Azur will offer European hospitality in Dubai and help attract lots of domestic and foreign tourists to the island destination. Côte d’Azur will host year-round European festivities that will attract more tourists to the Heart of Europe islands and boost tourism industry in Dubai.
Kleindienst Group, developer of The Heart of Europe – the US$5 billion (Dh18.3 billion) master-planned leisure tourism island destination – announced the completion of the elevations of the four hotels resort, Côte d’Azur, paving the way for walls, finishing and interiors works for the 893-key facility to be ready for local, regional and international tourists in the fourth quarter of 2020.
When complete, Côte d’Azur will offer 796 standard suites, 4 Super Deluxe suites, 61 Suite rooms and 32 Star suites. The five-star beachfront resort incorporates key features of the French Riviera’s most impressive architecture, design and lifestyle.
Being built on a plot of 43,442 square metres, Côte d’Azur comprises four boutique hotels – Monaco, Nice, Cannes and St. Tropez – each named after the most famous and picturesque resort cities along the French Riviera and offering distinct European hospitality and culture in Dubai. Contractors have also completed the topping out of St. Tropez, the fourth hotel of the resort cluster.
The four distinct hotels will offer around 220 keys each with beach access and dramatic views over the extraordinary swimming pool and/or the sea.
With elevations of the four hotels now complete, construction workers are now putting together walls, doors and windows that will trigger the finishing, painting and interiors works. Facades are being painted in Monaco and Nice in vibrant colour schemes, a combination of various hues of red and green.
“The completion of the elevation works and topping out of the four hotels mark an important milestone in the development of the Heart of Europe Island and our strong commitment to deliver the project by the end of the year, despite the current economic slowdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic,” Josef Kleindienst, Chairman of Kleindienst Group, says.
The resort will offer an exceptional array of indoor and outdoor facilities such as entertainment areas and games room (billiards, table tennis, bowling hall), fitness and gym facilities, spas, beach cabanas and six Mediterranean dining options in addition to diving and snorkeling facilities.
Côte d'Azur is also strategically located next to the climate-controlled Rainy Street covering 1 kilometre, where it will rain on command, whilst cooling down and maintaining an ambient temperature of 27 degrees Celsius as well as 5 kilometres per hour winds and 60 per cent humidity, in order to mirror the summer climate in southern Europe, making it a major tourist attraction when phase 1 of the project opens later this year.
The Rainy Street will have a boulevard setting filled with street cafés, casual dining restaurants, retail outlets, fashion and souvenir shops. It will also host as many as 51 year-round European festivals that will enthrall local and international tourists.
The construction of two key sustainable facilities is also underway at Côte d'Azur adding to the resort’s tremendous construction progress of the last 12 months.
Côte d'Azur resort will also feature an extraordinary sustainable swimming pool measuring a record 12,000 square metres. The swimming pool will connect the four hotels of the resort and will be fully sustainable with fresh water production, recycling and heating generated by solar panels and a zero discharge policy.
A Rain Forest will be planted with more than 100 types of exotic plants and palm trees right next to Monaco hotel and the Rainy Street. The forest will also have a sustainable irrigation system with recycled water and rain will fall on command to create a refreshing micro-climate. The Rain Forest will deliver a new sustainable entertainment and educational experience in Dubai.
“Once open, guests will enjoy year-round European festivities, the Rainy Street, the record swimming pool and the rain forest that will bring the European ambience closer to the Heart of Dubai, especially during the summer months. All these sustainable innovations, we believe, will reposition Dubai as the most preferred tourism destination in the world and the Heart of Europe will be at the heart of all these attractions!” Josef Kleindienst says.
Sustainability has been pivotal in the development of the Heart of Europe. The project is home to the Coral Institute which spearheads a pioneering coral reef programme that aims at developing marine life in the surrounding waters.
The Heart of Europe also has a zero-discharge policy and zero micro-plastics policy to ensure the protection of the Arabian Gulf and species of marine life that reside around the six islands. Other sustainable initiatives include clean energy powered by solar panels and hydro fuels, pesticide and fungicide free landscaping, car free environment, recycling of waters to irrigate the gardens and the use of organic food in the hotels.
